Marylebone Pork rated best in London

By Charles Campion in the London Evening Standard 18th July 2007.

"If you are a sausage-maker with a close eye on profit margins, the law allows you to sell a "sausage" containing just 30% meat. But that is only half the story as up to 30 per cent of that "meat content" can be fat; with tendons, gristle and other less meaty bits… so it's no surprise that in a recent Which ? survey the cheaper sausages contained such ingredients as chicken skin, bacon and rice, and TESCO'S "Value" Frozen sausages weighed in with a meat content of 30 per cent. Fortunately at the other end of the price scale there are some splendid sausages…We tried a dozen all best pork sausages." The results are shown here in reverse order;

Harrods premium fresh pork breakfast
Duchy original pork with herbs
Tesco traditionally made pork
Moen & Sons traditional pork sausage
M&S Outdoor bred pork sausages
Waitrose free range Hampshire pork
Sainsburys ultimate British pork

Biggles Gourmet Sausages announced winner of Great Taste Award 2009

The Great Taste Awards, which is organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is now in it’s 16th year and going from strength to strength. More and more consumers recognise the gold and black logo as the benchmark for independently proven, fine food.

Seen as the ‘Oscars’ of the British food industry, the Great Taste Awards judging standards are the most rigorous in the UK. Every entry is blind tasted by teams of experts. By the time it earns gold, it will have been assessed by at least three different teams.

This year it was our Moroccan Lamb, more traditionally known as ‘Merguez’ (100% lamb sausage) that was awarded gold.
